Postgame notes – Tigers escape

September 13, 2009

By Craig Thomas

It was a close call for Mizzou – the Tigers win 27-20. Bowling Green led 20-6 in the third quarter. Here are some notes from the game.

1st Half – Blaine Gabbert 10-21 for 44 yds

2nd Half – Gabbert 10-12 for 128 yards, 2 TDs

Sean Weatherspoon had 14 tackles. That’s the most he’s had since also getting 14 against Baylor on Nov. 1 of last year.

Four Bowling Green receivers caught at least five passes. Only Danario Alexander and Jared Perry caught more than two.

Grant Ressel is off to a great start. He hit both field goals (38 and 46 yards) and all three extra point tries Saturday. He also hit all his kicks against Illinois.

Bowling Green was penalized eight times for 99 yards. Missouri was penalized four times for 45 yards.

Missouri’s official attendance was 65,401. That ranked fifth this week in the Big 12 behind Texas, Nebraska, Oklahoma and Texas A&M. It was the Tigers’ highest home opening attendance since before Faurot Field was downsized in the 1990s.
