Sorting out the Big 12 North

October 24, 2009

By Sam Wilson

The game between Kansas State and Iowa State on Oct. 3 didn’t seem like a big game.  It wasn’t televised, and Arrowhead Stadium had an estimated crowd of only 40,000 for the game.

For now, the game has more meaning than it seemed at the time.  It is the deciding game in the current Big 12 North standings, in which Kansas State leads Iowa State by one game. After Kansas State beat Colorado and Iowa State beat Nebraska, the Wildcats will be in first place in the Big 12 North this week, and the Cyclones will be in second. Missouri’s result cannot affect those standings.
