LIVE BLOG: Second half Mizzou – Kansas State

November 14, 2009

With 6:30 to go, KSU has completed some passes but has run out of time.

The M I Z – Z O U chant can be heard now by the contingent of Missouri fans, who have now watched the Tigers dominate Kansas State four years in a row. Many K-State students and other fans have seen enough and are filing out.

MISSOURI 38 – KANSAS ST 12: Washington takes a direct snap and runs it in himself. Missouri, after looking so bad in so many second halves, has crushed the Wildcats today since halftime.

Derrick Washington gives MU a first down at the Kansas State 13.

Jarrell Harrison picks off Gregory pass and takes it to KSU 25. Mizzou about to put this game away.

An Aldon Smith sack cost K-State eight yards.

11:08 left in the game. Kansas State has it at the 30. Gregory just got away from Brian Coulter but was still tackled.

MISSOURI 31 – KANSAS ST 12: Washington takes a pitch and scores. Finally, Missouri is having a great second half.

Jerrell Jackson carries to the 4. He’s rushed several times today. I’m curious to hear why.

Another DWash run and a completion from Gabbert to Jackson have Mizzou down to the KSU 17.

Just under 14 minutes remaining now. Missouri has just crossed midfield with a Derrick Washington run.

Blaine Gabbert throws a bad pass, which should’ve been intercepted by a Kansas State linebacker. Huge break for Missouri, the Tigers MUST be more careful.

Missouri recovers a fumble to open 4th quarter. Forced by Jacquies Smith, picked up by Will Ebner at the Tiger 39. Now it’s under review.

END OF THIRD QUARTER: Missouri leads it 24-12. The Wildcats got two more field goals and a Gabbert pass to Alexander went for 80 yards.

That was Missouri’s first second-half TD since September. Meanwhile, KSU has the ball just past midfield in the closing seconds of the third quarter.

MISSOURI 24 – KANSAS ST 12: Gabbert hits Alexander on a short pass. Alexander makes a move and is gone once again. Amazing what he can do. Echoes of his performance against Nevada.

MISSOURI 17 – KANSAS ST 12: Cherry hits his fourth FG today. 0:57 left in the third quarter. KSU seems to have had the ball almost the whole quarter.

KSU now at Mizzou 21 with a first down.

Banks doing a lot of work for K-State on this drive. Wildcats down to Mizzou 40.

Good kickoff coverage by MU. Trey Hobson hits Brandon Banks for a 2-yard loss. 8:15 on the clock.

Gabbert nearly intercepted, and so far the second half starts ominously for Missouri once again.

We’ll see if Missouri does better in the second half today. Tigers take over at the 25.

MISSOURI 17 – KANSAS ST 9: Cherry hits another field goal, this time from 35 yards out. 9:20 left in the third quarter.

A few miscues cost Kansas State a chance to score. They’ll settle for a FG attempt.

Two K-State first downs have the Wildcats at the Missouri 31.

Tanner Mills of Mizzou will kick off to begin the half. This time an up-man takes it instead of Banks, but it results in good field position for Kansas State at the Wildcats’ 41.
