Insight Bowl: Not sold on Mizzou?

December 2, 2009

By Craig Thomas

We’re starting to hear some rumors regarding Missouri’s bowl placement. The Tigers (8-4) are going to get an invitation, but nothing will be officially determined until Sunday. We’ll have something from Sunday at ColumbiaMissourian.com.

Until then, Dave Matter from the Tribune said an Insight Bowl rep said that the bowl was equally interested in Missouri and Iowa State (6-6). This comes despite Missouri’s ten-point win over the Cyclones less than two weeks ago.

Iowa State played in the Insight Bowl several years ago and brought 20,000 fans (a generally good amount), according to the article. However, the Cyclones had not been to a bowl for nearly a quarter-century before that.

The Missourian will have coverage of bowl talks in the next few days, so keep checking back through Sunday when the announcement is made. We’ll be present at the announcement and we will talk to players then.

Earlier this week, Sam Wilson got statements from multiple bowl reps and he will have another story Friday on updates.
